In the new year, we endeavour to catch up on the outstanding matters from the previous year. It was marked by the implementation of a project funded under the Department for Culture and National Heritage's Programme for Supporting Polish Archives and Libraries Abroad – WABIM 2025.

With this post, we are pleased to announce the completion of one of the components of this project: the archiving and digitisation of the Verification Commission 3 (KW3). This is the largest collection of documents stored in the archive of the Polish Underground Movement Study Trust (Studium Polski Podziemnej) in London. It encompasses 20,926 files and a total of 118,653 pages of documents (or 160,505 pages including administrative pages).

In combination with the KW1 (10,318 files), KW2 (4,516 files), and KW4 (approximately 900 files) collections, also held by the SPP archive, one could venture to say that we care for one of the largest (at least outside Poland) collections of personal files of ex-combatants of the Home Army (AK – Armia Krajowa), which includes over 36,000 files.

Work on the KW3 collection began in 2019, but it was thanks to the funds from the Department for Culture and National Heritage that we managed to expedite the process and successfully conclude it in 2025.

As a result, we present to researchers, genealogists, and all those interested in the history of the Polish Underground State and the Home Army, a complete archival inventory of KW3, which can be downloaded from our website (link below).

It is worth noting that we have also placed all records in the ZOSIA database available on the 'Szukaj w Archiwach' portal.
