Polish Institute & Sikorski Museum of London
'Umbrella' Institution & Studium's Main Partner.
The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum (PISM) is the oldest and largest Institute outside Poland since the WWII.
It developed from the Historical Institute and Museum under the name of Gen. Sikorski in 1945. It is the centre of documentation of the Polish Forces, including State and military archives, predominantly of the II WW. In 1965, the Institute amalgamated with the Polish Research Centre, thus creating the present-day Institute. In 1970 further incorporation was established with the Polish Colours Foundation and in 1973 with the Polish Historical Institute. Final amalgamation of the Polish Institute and SikorskiMuseum with the Polish Underground Movement Study Trust, was agreed upon in 1988.
