Dear Friends, Fellow Researchers and Historians

Another busy year is coming to an end. This also encompasses our project this year within the programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage – WABIM 2025.

One of the tasks was the archiving and digitisation of selected archival teams both at the Sikorski Institute and the Study of the Polish Underground in London.

Among them was the extremely valuable Collection No. 19 “Freedom and Independence” (Wolnosc I Niezawslosc) (COL. 19), the archiving of which, started years ago, was successfully completed this year. The documents have been organised into archival units. They were arranged in a logical subject-chronological order, and the order reflected in the updated archival inventory in Excel and PDF formats. Naturally, the pages of the documents were also organised and paginated within the units.

The entire collection has been scanned, converted to fully searchable PDF files (using OCR technology), and added to the PDF Index – a text search tool available to users on the local NAS server in the SPP archive. Metadata in the PDF files has also been amended, which should significantly facilitate the searching process of those documents.

The collection contains hundreds, if not thousands, of intelligence reports from post-war Poland occupied by the Soviets; correspondence, economic, political, and social analyses, as well as statistical compilations and secret reports are also included in this collection.

We warmly invite historians and all interested parties to research this fascinating period in Polish history.
